Welcome to Greater Manchester North Scout County. Providing 5,000 young people across Bolton, Bury, Oldham and Rochdale with the skills they need to overcome challenges and achieve their dreams.
Each of our sections are run by volunteers who plan weekly meetings, organise camps and prepare our young people with #PlaceToBelong.

The new programme has outdoors at its heart and real world skills for a brighter future.
As well as firm favourites like Pioneering, Survival Skills and Camping there are 40 new activity badges such as Content Creation, Life Skills and STEM plus 6 Challenge badges including Adventure, Community and Leadership with more new badges to follow in Phase 2.
The transition into the new programme is until 31st August 2027.
Every badge is built around a set of experience principles. Think of them as creative prompts or mini-missions that help Explorers design their own journey. These principles guide the kind of activities young people can choose, and they’re all about real-world learning, collaboration and self-discovery.
With immediate effect, First Response compliance is moving to the same process as Safety, Safeguarding & DBS with suspensions being put in place for those without a current, valid qualification.
We currently have 165 adults non-compliant for First Aid across the County with a further spike expected next month following the effects of the rule change at Transformation for former Sectional Assistants. We would therefore urge everyone whose qualification has already expired to book onto and commit to completing their First Aid Course urgently. [Online 3 hour plus 3 hour practical OR 6 hour face to face]
A reminder that every session, activity or event must have at least one Leader present with a current qualification.
Many courses currently run with lower than expected numbers because people cancel at the last minute or just don’t turn up. Please don’t wait for the expiry date, renew ahead of the expiry date.
New dates for 2027 are being added to the website imminently.
